Color---Texture---Pictorial
Jane Johnston, trained as a traditional artisan in college demonstrates
a true love for both color and texture in design. Through the years
her work has taken on a painterly quality, as both color and texture
have been combined to extend traditional techniques in polymer
clay jewelry and quilt construction. Her designs often reflect
her personal style of exaggerating and pushing the limits to create
expressive, pictorial images… whether wearable or purely
decorative in nature.
As an artist, Jane Johnston has exhibited her work in several
counties in Maryland, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey
and Kentucky. She has won several awards for her art quilts and
clothing through out the United States. She is currently in her
23rd year of teaching high school art education in Harford County,
Maryland. Jane continually seeks new opportunities to share her
artwork with the public through local or national competitions
and exhibits. She also welcomes any and all commissions.
